Stress is one of the factors that helps cause acne or makes breakouts worse. Stress causes changes in the hormones in the body. The hormones then stimulate the sebaceous glands which produce the oil in our skin.
The stimulation of the sebaceous gland leads to more oil production. The excess oil increases the chances of the pores being clogged and acne to develop.
Dealing stress may be difficult due to the fact that it can come from many sources. For teenagers, it can involve too much school work, peer pressure, problems at home, or unhappiness with their appearance just to name a few.
Each person's method for reliving stress varies. Some teenagers might be able to relieve stress by hanging out with their friends, exercising, shopping, listening to music, playing video games, or just a better night sleep.
